Props

Two pairs compete to find as many uses as possible for two identical bizarre props. The stranger the prop, the better. Speed, physicality and commitment to each new use wins.

About

Props (a ComedySportz and Whose Line staple) is a purely physical short-form game where two unusual objects become everything except what they actually are. The game rewards fast physical thinking, specificity and the willingness to commit fully to each new use before finding the next one. Holding the prop and doing nothing is the only way to lose.

How to Play

  1. 1

Two identical unusual props are prepared in advance (e.g. two identical inflatable bananas, two toilet brushes, two giant foam hands).

  2. 2

Two pairs of players are each given one prop. They compete to find as many uses for it as possible within the time limit.

  3. 3

Each use must be physically demonstrated, not just named. The pair uses their prop as clearly as possible to portray the new object.

  4. 4

The audience or a judge eliminates a pair if they repeat a use or take too long between uses.

  5. 5

The pair with more valid uses at the end wins.

Variations

  • -Single prop: both pairs use the same prop simultaneously. Object transformation: the prop must transform into a logical sequence of related objects (all kitchen items, all sports equipment).
